ENFLONSIA is a prescription medicine to help prevent lung disease, including severe lung disease, caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in newborns and babies who are born during or entering their first RSV season.

Who should get ENFLONSIA?

Eligible babies who are born during or entering their first RSV season should receive ENFLONSIA to help protect newborns and babies younger than 12 months against lung disease, including severe lung disease, caused by RSV.

This shot helps protect your baby through their first RSV season (about 5 months).

Serious allergic reactions have happened with other medicines like ENFLONSIA. Get medical help right away if your child has any signs or symptoms of a serious allergic reaction.

When your baby gets ENFLONSIA depends on when they are born, either before or during their first RSV season. RSV season usually lasts from fall through spring, but when it starts and ends can vary depending on where you live.

If your baby is born during RSV season

ENFLONSIA can be given at birth at the hospital or any visit to their doctor’s office—ideally within the first week of life, but can still be given within the RSV season.

If your baby is born before RSV season

Your baby can get ENFLONSIA at a regular checkup, just before the RSV season starts.

How is ENFLONISA given?

ENFLONSIA is given as one injection (or shot), in the thigh muscle, by your baby’s doctor, nurse, or other healthcare provider. Your baby should get ENFLONSIA before the start of or during their first RSV season to help protect them from lung disease, including severe lung disease, caused by RSV.

What are the possible side effects of ENFLONSIA?

Serious allergic reactions have happened with other medicines like ENFLONSIA. Get medical help right away if your child has any signs or symptoms of a serious allergic reaction.

The most common side effects of ENFLONSIA are redness and swelling where your child got the injection and rash.

These are not all the possible side effects of ENFLONSIA. Call your child’s healthcare provider for medical advice about side effects.

Before your child gets ENFLONSIA, tell their healthcare provider about all your child’s medical conditions, including if your child is scheduled to have heart surgery during or entering their first RSV season, and all the medicines your child takes, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

 

Serious allergic reactions have happened with other medicines like ENFLONSIA. Tell your child’s healthcare provider and seek medical care right away if your child has any of the following signs or symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, which may include swelling of the face, mouth, or tongue, difficulty swallowing or breathing, unresponsiveness, bluish color of skin, lips or under fingernails, muscle weakness, and severe rash, hives, or itching.
